The event was held successfully with the participation of 120 people from association members and processing companies.

The Korea Plate Glass Industry Association (Chairman Lee Su-gon) held the ‘Energy Harvesting Architecture-IT Convergence Seminar’ at the Kikox Venture Center located in Guro-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul on July 15th.

The seminar hosted by the Korea Plate Glass Industry Association and organized by the Korea Construction Living Environment Testing Institute was attended by 120 people from the association's member companies and officials from plate glass processing companies.

Prior to the seminar, the association's president, Su-gon Lee, gave a greeting saying, "We have prepared a seminar again from last year to strengthen the competitiveness of the flat glass industry and to actively share information." As it has been designated, we will continue to do our best to improve the quality of related companies and ensure consumer safety.”

This seminar started with 'KS preparation according to the revision of the Industrial Standardization Act (KS certification system-general requirements for product certification)' by Kim Sang-jin, secretary general of the Korea Standards Association, and 'Advanced technology for the new market of zero energy buildings' by Professor Yoon Jong-ho of Hanbat National University. Current status of window technology development', 'Introduction of unfair trade practice report center' by Yong-Shin Kim, Director of the Association, 'Trends in building energy/glass insulation technology and test methods for gas injection insulation installation' by Young-Hyeon Park, chief technology officer of the Korea Institute of Construction and Living Environment, Nam-Yong Park, Director of the Association It was conducted as a program such as 'Guide to the gas-injected insulating glass certification system and precautions for production'.

In the first program, Director Kim of the Korea Standards Association said, “From July 7 of this year, the KS certification examination criteria have been revised, and the standardization general, material management, process management, product management, manufacturing facility management, and inspection facility management ▲quality management Management ▲material management ▲process/manufacturing facility management ▲product management ▲test/inspection facility management (by item) ▲consumer protection and environment/resource management, etc. The key is whether to apply it at the international level, and for material management, the key to the revised system is whether or not to approve the main material management list (parts, modules and materials, etc.).”

In addition, "process/manufacturing facility management has newly established whether to identify process capability indexes for major processes, but if the production process is outsourced and does not have manufacturing facilities, it will also be reviewed whether it is possible to check the outsourced production site." In addition, “In the product management category, the part that checks the inspection ability of the person in charge of product inspection has been strengthened. asked that

Next, Professor Yun of Hanbat University said about the size of the global green building market, “It will show an average annual growth rate of 25.5% until the end of this year and will continue to grow steeply. As a roadmap for zero energy has been established, the flat glass industry must also seek appropriate countermeasures.”

Professor Yoon said, “Second-generation vacuum glass windows with a thermal transmittance rate of less than 1.0 W/㎡K and less than that of the first-generation vacuum glass windows of 0.5 W/㎡K or less have been developed in Korea. It is necessary to pay attention to multifunctional Smart Glazing that encompasses aesthetic aspects such as design elements and psychological comfort.”

In the seminar that followed, Director Park of the Korea Institute of Construction and Living Environment said, referring to the gas-injected insulating glass test method, “Injecting argon and other gases, an inert gas, into the double-glazed glass to prevent dew and frost formation and improve sound insulation and insulation performance “This is a test to minimize loss,” he said.

Director Park said, “The main test items are dimension and appearance, dew point, weather resistance, thermal transmittance, emissivity of optical thin film performance, gas content-state and weather resistance. Measure using a tape measure, and measure the appearance of foreign substances, butyl compression width, butyl breakage, and sealant application depth with a straight metal ruler. This is going on.”

In particular, he said, “It is necessary to pay attention to the test to measure the gas content and weather resistance using 6 samples that have passed 2 weeks or more after the production of gas-injected double-glazed glass. It is possible to pass if it meets the standard of 15% or less of the gas content value.

Director Park Nam-yong, who conducted the last lecture, said, “In the inspection for gas-injected insulating glass certification, there are cases such as plate glass contamination, spacer protrusion, butyl damage due to high temperature, and unsatisfactory sealant evaluation criteria due to incorrect mixing of the main material and hardener. "The contamination on the surface of the plate glass is a major factor that causes a decrease in adhesion, so it should be thoroughly cleaned, and the spacer should pay attention to the adhesion mechanism between the aluminum metal surface and the sealant." He also explained, “During the butyl process, make sure that a mold release material (chalk) or soap is attached, and chemical bonding with the adhesive surface must be smooth, so be careful not to come into contact with water when mixing the sealant.”

Meanwhile, at this seminar, a program to promote the association's work, such as the Korea Plate Glass Industry Association's KS product review work and the unfair trade report center, was also held, and a place for Q&A and information sharing between presenters and participants was also provided.
