Invested KRW 55 billion and established the largest functional coated glass processing plant in Korea

 

Hanglass (CEO Lee Yong-seong), a leader in the domestic flat glass industry, has started to strengthen its penetration into the high-functional and high-value-added flat glass market.

 

On November 5, Hanglas held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of a functional coated glass processing plant at Hanglas' Gunsan Plant located in Soryong-dong, Gunsan-si, Jeollabuk-do. The largest functional coating glass processing plant in Korea, with a total investment of 55 billion won, will start full-scale production in the second half of 2015.

 

Hanglass will be able to produce 10 million square meters of functional coated glass per year at the newly built functional coated glass processing plant. This is the largest production capacity in Korea.

 

In addition, by coating three layers of silver film on one side of flat glass, it plans to further strengthen its high-performance and high-value-added product line by producing Triple Low-E glass with insulation and solar heat shielding performance that exceeds the function of existing low-e glass. . In addition, it is possible to produce functional coated glass with a larger size of 3,353 × 6,000 mm), which is larger than the conventionally produced coated glass, so that it is possible to respond to the demand for functional coated glass of various sizes.

 

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Houchan Shoeibi, who is in charge of the glass division in Saint-Gobain, France, the global headquarters of Hanglas, to discuss the domestic eco-friendly building policy and expansion of investment in production facilities. He expressed an active interest in Saint-Gobain Glass. Sang Woo Sang, president of Saint-Gobain Glass, said, “As the importance of the environment is increasing around the world, Korea’s energy-saving policies and interest in eco-friendly building materials are very ideal role models. We will contribute to laying the foundation for Korea's eco-friendly building materials market with functional coated glass that can save up to a year," he said.

 

In addition, Gunsan City Mayor Moon Dong-shin, Lee Hyeon-ho, Gunsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yeoseong-cheol, Gunsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and many other relevant organizations and heads of organizations attended, expressing expectations for the revitalization of the Gunsan economy and manufacturing industry.
