After graduating from Cheongju and Cheongju University, CEO Kim Young-jin is proud to be a 'judoin'.

CEO Kim said, “When I was in high school, a judo competition was held at Gyeongmudae. It was a competition in which judo athletes representing all over the country gathered and competed in front of President Syngman Rhee. If you look at the Joseon Dynasty, it is the same as the Eojeon Tournament. I participated in the competition on behalf of high school students in the Chungbuk region,” he said.

The relationship with judo, which he developed during his school days, continued to the president of the Chungbuk Judo Association. Kim served as the president of Chungbuk Judo for 5 years from 1996 to 2000. He also served as the chairman of the Cheongju Judo Hall, located in Yongjeong-dong, Sangsang-gu, Cheongju-si as the president of judo in Chungbuk. Chairman Kim still cherishes his relationship with judo to the extent that he still wears the Chungbuk Judo badge on his suit.

His love for judo was also linked to his management philosophy.

CEO Kim said, “Judo is an exercise that overcomes strength with softness. In order to use the opponent's power, you need to know the opponent, and when the opponent comes out strong, don't try to fight it, but ride it gently. This is also true in management. Do not neglect to find out information about the other company. You should not try to confront the trend of the times with your own stubbornness. We need to flexibly respond to changes in the business environment without compromising our intrinsic values,” he explained, explaining the similarities between judo and management.

CEO Kim also revealed his thoughts on 'family business' and 'longevity business'.

CEO Kim said, “Dongil Glass is a family business, but it is not just a family business.” It is an advantage for family members to participate in management and work responsibly, but he thinks that the opinions of executives and employees who have worked hard to grow the company should be considered as important.

He also emphasized that even long-lived companies should value change.

CEO Kim said, “If you settle for a long-lived company, it is bound to close sooner or later. In order to survive, we must constantly change. Although Dongil Glass is a specialized company that deals only with glass, there are many subdivided business areas in glass. A true longevity company and a family company can only be created when the age of the ancestors and the new spirit and sense of future generations are harmonized.”
