Laminated GlassKSL2004

Laminated glass is a product in which safety was further improved with a special laminated film. It is a high functional glass that protects from various risks like safety accidents, theft, noise, ultraviolet rays, etc.

Main Characteristics

  • It has excellent shock absorptive power and low damage rate, and it is safe even when damaged since the film prevents the glass fragments from scattering.
  • It prevents theft since no holes are formed due to damage.
  • It creates a quiet interior space because it has an excellent noise blocking effect.

Major Uses

  • Windows of general houses and apartments
  • Places where theft prevention is required like jewelry shops and museum display cases
  • Show windows in stores
  • Windows or soundproof walls of buildings that require noise blocking like schools, airport surroundings, roadsides, etc.
  • Windows of botanical gardens, cars, trains, ships
  • Indoor and outdoor skylights of buildings
  • Passageway between buildings, stairs
  • Windows at places that handle hazardous materials
  • Other places where human access is frequent and safety is required

Manufacturing Method

It is manufactured by inserting a PVB film or UV bonding resin with strong adhesive strength between two or more panes of sheet glass and making them adhere by applying heat and pressure.

Main Performance of Laminated Glass

Safety

Injury caused by architectural glass is 4.9% of the total (1999-2002 statistics). In particular, it is highest among elementary, middle, and high school students and accidents in classrooms account for 64.2%. Laminated glass prevents accidents due to glass by holding on to the fragments in case of damage and it is the safest glass that can prevent even secondary injuries caused by the fragments.

Crime Prevention

Since laminated glass solved the problem of scattering in the event of glass damage, the impacting object cannot pass through the glass even when the glass is damaged. Therefore, various theft accidents can be prevented in advance since no holes are formed in the glass.

Noise Blocking

According to the result of noise measurements in residential areas that were conducted nationwide, the number of residential areas where noise exceeds the environmental standard is increasing due to highway development, etc. Laminated glass is in the spotlight as a new alternative in the noise pollution era by reducing noise by up to 5 dB (Compared to ordinary glass, over 7 dB in some frequency bands).

UV Protection

Laminated glass prevents discoloration of clothing, furniture, carpets, etc. that are displayed indoors and increases durability life by blocking UV rays (280mm to 380mm) of the Sun that deteriorate and discolor materials by about 99%.
